OHMO AI: The technique that got Anthropic's Fable 5 banned turns out to be almost laughably simple. As security expert Katie Moussouris explained in an analysis covered by Fortune, Amazon researchers found that Fable refused to review code for security flaws, but happily patched it when asked to "fix this code." That small workaround was enough for the government to pull the model, and now the cyber community is in revolt over it.

Roughly 100 cybersecurity professionals from firms like Nvidia, Google, and Sophos signed an open letter calling for the export controls to be rescinded.
They argue Fable isn't uniquely dangerous, since other models like GPT-5.5 and Anthropic's own Claude Opus can spot code flaws the same way.
Moussouris says the flagged ability is exactly what defenders need, calling it the most valuable thing an AI can do for security.

The UAE Builds One Authority to Rule AI

OHMO AI: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved a new Federal Authority for Artificial Intelligence and Data, as Gulf News reported, making it the single national body responsible for AI, data, and digital government across the country. It folds three separate government entities into one structure reporting directly to the Cabinet. AI minister Omar Sultan Al Olama will chair it.

The authority will set national AI standards, manage government data, and build AI-powered platforms for public services.
It absorbs the AI Office, the digital government sector at the telecom regulator, and the UAE Data Office.
Sheikh Mohammed described the goal as a government that runs on data and agentic AI.

OpenAI Bets $150M on Partners

Founding partners include Accenture, Bain, BCG, McKinsey, and PwC. The aim is to get companies past pilots and into real, large-scale use.

Seattle's Secret AI on 911 Calls

OHMO AI: The Seattle Fire Department has been running AI from Copenhagen startup Corti on every 911 medical call since December 2023, according to a GeekWire investigation surfaced by The Next Web. The system listens in real time and nudges dispatchers to route some callers to a nurse line in Texas instead of sending an ambulance. The department never told the public or submitted it for review under the city's surveillance ordinance.

Officials argue Corti isn't surveillance because it doesn't store audio or identify callers.
The department said nurse line routing rose 32%, a figure that hasn't been independently verified.
Dispatchers keep final say over routing, but callers have no idea AI is involved in the decision.
