Welcome to OHMO AI. The fallout from the Anthropic shutdown is getting messy, and the cyber world is fighting back. Meanwhile governments keep drawing new lines around who controls AI and who even knows it's running. The quiet part is getting loud.

In today’s newsletter:

  • The simple three-word trick that triggered Anthropic's ban, and the backlash now building

  • The UAE builds a single national authority to run AI and data

  • OpenAI puts $150 million behind a new global partner network

  • Seattle quietly ran AI on every 911 medical call for 18 months

The Three Words That Shut Down Fable

OHMO AI: The technique that got Anthropic's Fable 5 banned turns out to be almost laughably simple. As security expert Katie Moussouris explained in an analysis covered by Fortune, Amazon researchers found that Fable refused to review code for security flaws, but happily patched it when asked to "fix this code." That small workaround was enough for the government to pull the model, and now the cyber community is in revolt over it.

The details:

  • Roughly 100 cybersecurity professionals from firms like Nvidia, Google, and Sophos signed an open letter calling for the export controls to be rescinded.

  • They argue Fable isn't uniquely dangerous, since other models like GPT-5.5 and Anthropic's own Claude Opus can spot code flaws the same way.

  • Moussouris says the flagged ability is exactly what defenders need, calling it the most valuable thing an AI can do for security.

Why it matters: The people who actually defend networks are saying the ban makes everyone less safe, not more. When a single phrase can get a frontier model yanked offline, it shows how blunt and unpredictable the rules around AI still are.

HubSpot AEO

Picture this. A buyer opens ChatGPT and asks for a recommendation in your category. Your competitor's name comes up. Yours doesn't. And that buyer never makes it to your website.

That's happening right now in markets everywhere. And most teams don't know it's happening because it never shows up in their analytics.

HubSpot AEO shows you exactly where your brand stands in AI search, where competitors are getting recommended instead of you, and tells you specifically what to fix. No expertise needed.

UAE

The UAE Builds One Authority to Rule AI

OHMO AI: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved a new Federal Authority for Artificial Intelligence and Data, as Gulf News reported, making it the single national body responsible for AI, data, and digital government across the country. It folds three separate government entities into one structure reporting directly to the Cabinet. AI minister Omar Sultan Al Olama will chair it.

The details:

  • The authority will set national AI standards, manage government data, and build AI-powered platforms for public services.

  • It absorbs the AI Office, the digital government sector at the telecom regulator, and the UAE Data Office.

  • Sheikh Mohammed described the goal as a government that runs on data and agentic AI.

Why it matters: Countries are racing to build the rules and plumbing for AI before it runs everything. The UAE just put it all under one roof, and that kind of central control could become the model other governments copy.

OPENAI

OpenAI Bets $150M on Partners

OHMO AI: OpenAI has launched a new Partner Network, as the company announced, putting $150 million into a program that helps consultancies and tech firms sell and deploy its AI to big enterprises. Founding partners include Accenture, Bain, BCG, McKinsey, and PwC. The aim is to get companies past pilots and into real, large-scale use.

The details:

  • OpenAI wants to train and certify 300,000 consultants by the end of 2026.

  • Partners climb three tiers, Select, Advanced, and Elite, based on sales and technical skill.

  • Companies like eBay, T-Mobile, and Paychex are already named as joint customers.

Why it matters: The bottleneck for AI isn't the technology anymore, it's getting businesses to actually use it. OpenAI is building an army of consultants to close that gap, which means AI is about to show up in a lot more of the services you use.

CORTI

Seattle's Secret AI on 911 Calls

OHMO AI: The Seattle Fire Department has been running AI from Copenhagen startup Corti on every 911 medical call since December 2023, according to a GeekWire investigation surfaced by The Next Web. The system listens in real time and nudges dispatchers to route some callers to a nurse line in Texas instead of sending an ambulance. The department never told the public or submitted it for review under the city's surveillance ordinance.

The details:

  • Officials argue Corti isn't surveillance because it doesn't store audio or identify callers.

  • The department said nurse line routing rose 32%, a figure that hasn't been independently verified.

  • Dispatchers keep final say over routing, but callers have no idea AI is involved in the decision.

Why it matters: AI is already making quiet calls in places where the stakes are life and death, often with nobody watching. The bigger question isn't whether the tech works, it's whether you have a right to know when a machine is deciding what happens to you.

Today's reader is David O. from Cork, Ireland:

My mam is 78 and stubborn as anything. After my dad passed she got hit with letters from the bank, pension, the ESB, all of it, and she'd ring me in a panic because half of them may as well be in another language. I work shifts so I can't always sit with her. So now when something lands I get her to take a photo and send it to me on WhatsApp, and I run it through AI to break down what it actually means and what she needs to do. Last month it spotted she was being double charged on something and I'd have missed it.
