Trump administration lifts the export ban on Claude Fable 5

OHMO AI: The US government has lifted its export controls on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5, and the model returns tomorrow, July 1. Anthropic pulled both Fable 5 and its more powerful sibling Mythos 5 on June 12, after the government barred access by foreign nationals, a rule the company couldn't enforce in real time. Anthropic laid out the whole saga in its return post.
The details:
Fable 5 returns globally across the Claude Platform, Claude.ai, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork, with Pro, Max, and Team plans getting it free for up to half their weekly usage through July 7.
The ban traced back to Amazon researchers, who found a way to prompt Fable 5 into flagging software vulnerabilities, and in one case writing code to exploit one.
Anthropic says weaker models, including its own Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5, could find the same flaws, and it's trained a new classifier that blocks the technique over 99% of the time.
Mythos 5, the less guarded version, is back only for a set of approved US organizations.
Why it matters: There's still no rulebook here. A frontier model got pulled on a Friday and reinstated just over two weeks later through private negotiation, with the terms worked out case by case. Anthropic is now pushing an industry jailbreak standard alongside Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, and asking for real regulation. Until that lands, access to the most powerful AI runs through deals, not law.

Claude Science turns the chatbot into a research lab bench

OHMO AI: Anthropic launched Claude Science, an AI workbench built for researchers, now in beta. It pulls the scattered tools of science, databases, notebooks, cluster terminals, into one place, and every result carries a full record of how it was made. It's built to produce auditable, reproducible artifacts.
The details:
It ships with more than 60 curated skills and connectors for genomics, proteomics, cheminformatics, and more, backed by over 60 scientific databases.
A reviewer agent checks citations and calculations as work runs, flagging and correcting errors on its own.
Neuroscientist Jérôme Lecoq at the Allen Institute built about 20 custom skills to write long-form reviews that used to take his team up to two years.
An epidemiologist at UCSF said it ran a genetic analysis in roughly one-tenth the time it took before.
Why it matters: If a review that took two years now takes weeks, the bottleneck in science stops being the writing and starts being the ideas. The catch is trust, and Anthropic is betting the auditable trail is what wins scientists over.

OKX built a marketplace where AI agents hire and pay each other

OHMO AI: Crypto exchange OKX launched OKX AI, a marketplace where software agents can hire one another, settle payments on their own, and build portable reputations. It opens to developers after a closed beta with 50 early service providers.
The details:
Agents list their services in one marketplace, then find work and get paid automatically in stablecoins in another.
OKX has more than 150 million users, and it's now betting the next customers won't be people at all.
CEO Star Xu said the coming decade will be defined by one-person companies making over a million dollars a year, because everyone gets "an unlimited workforce."
The platform works with AI coding tools including Claude Code and Codex, and needs no OKX account to start.
Why it matters: This is the plumbing for an economy that runs without us. If agents can find each other, pay each other, and settle disputes, whole workflows can happen with no human clicking approve. OKX's own marketing chief calls it a trillion-dollar market within five years. That's a bet, not a fact, but the rails are being laid now.

OPENAI
OpenAI's first hardware is a coding keypad, not a phone

OHMO AI: OpenAI revealed its first branded hardware, and it's a small programmable macro pad called the Codex Micro, built with keyboard maker Work Louder. It's a set of physical buttons for the Codex coding agent, with a full launch on July 15.
The details:
It's built on Work Louder's Creator Micro 2, with 13 mechanical keys, a joystick, a rotary encoder, and six programmable layers.
Codex now has more than 5 million weekly active users, the audience this device is aimed at.
Pricing isn't confirmed. The Creator Micro 2 it's based on runs from $144 to $174, so treat that as a reference, not the price.
This is not the consumer AI device OpenAI is building with Jony Ive. That one's still coming later this year.
Why it matters: A button on your desk is stickier than a shortcut you memorize. Put a Codex keypad next to a developer, build their muscle memory around it, and switching to a rival gets harder. It's a small piece of plastic doing quiet competitive work against Claude Code and Cursor.
